Procedures for bringing medications to school

Dear Emerald Cove families,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year! Instructions for medications in school:

Many children have both prescribed medications, as well as over the counter medications that are kept in the Health Room.

ALL prescription medication must be in the original pharmacy bottle (even those your child carries on person), with the doctor's instructions matching those on the authorization form. (your pharmacist will label an extra bottle for you to keep in school, at your request).

Over the counter medications need to be in brand new, sealed bottles, with your child's name clearly labeled on it.

ALL medications need a physician authorization form. All of our local pediatricians have these forms in their offices, as do many specialists. If your doctor does not have the form, the School Nurse can fax the form to your doctor's office. We will NOT provide a blank form.

The nurses will not accept ANY medication without the proper paperwork.

We also require a small, recent photo of your child.

Children may NOT carry any medication in school, except rescue inhalers and rescue medications for anaphylactic shock. Carry-on medications require the same paperwork from the physician as medications stored in the Clinic.

Thank you....

We are looking forward to meeting you and your children!
